Seems like now days TV theme songs are pretty quick, but do you remember when they were about one minute long? Time to relive those theme songs that were catchy, got stuck in your head, and sometimes were down right annoying :(

*Starting off with my favorite show and theme song:

  2. This was one of my favorite shows growing up in the late 80s

    Family Ties

  3. This one goes out to Dodger. He made me appreciate this song as one you can groove to.

Props if you know who wrote the music for this without having to look it up on the internet...

  5. Another memorable PBS theme

Oh and here's an extended version of "According to Our New Arrivals" sung by the composer Gary Portnoy:

Mr Belvedere is definitely a classic and Bob Uecker is a maniac.

Here's another classic (theme song is better than the show, IMO)

  9. And a guilty pleasure of mine

Wow, Bob Uecker does sound like an animal. I always thought he was an odd choice of casting for the show, a little bit off and still (edit: stiff) somehow... maybe it was because he was restraining himself given the fact he was on such a wholesome show.

I agree. It's the same with Bob Saget. Had someone seen any of his stand up routines, I doubt he would have been cast as Danny Tanner on Full House

Gilbert Gottfried is another.. here's his take on the same joke Saget is telling...

Yeah, that's a great comparison. I had heard about Bob Saget's comedy style from a friend in high school who went with his family to see him live. They weren't expecting that, LOL. My friend mentioned Saget even commenting on the Olsen twins.

So funny looking when the dad looks towards the camera when his name pops up. Time for the freeze frame.

Gary Portnoy also composed and sang the theme song for Cheers a couple years before he wrote the theme for Mr. Belvedere. He has an interesting story about it on http://www.garyportnoy.com/.

A true classic with Nell Carter vocals.

    Fraggle Rock was AWESOME!

Quick Jeopardy fact: Fraggle Rock puppets were left over puppets intended to be used in the movie The Dark Crystal about a race of beings that live under trees. They ran out of time on production, but they held on to the puppets for latter use!

hah, had no idea. Cool fact!

And now for something completely ... different... sort of

  19. Couldn't find a good video version of this opening unfortunately, but here's the memorable song.
