Cool, thanks.  :( Finding a good template can be difficult.

I just added a "Retro Gaming and Electronics" section to "collectables". The 80s time period was pretty pivotal for gaming and electronics like sound systems, portable gear, and home computers.

I added a new them that features a white background. It is called "Outline". Go here if you'd like to change it:

http://forum.the19eighties.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=theme;u=3

Click on the "Forum or Board Default (change)" link and you'll see the new theme at the bottom.

The theme isn't totally done with customizations, but I figured I'd let anyone know in case they don't like the dark theme.

Changed CSS to resize large images from outside image hosts.

6. I like that one. Maybe we should have a vote on what people like more as the default template over time.

To change the current theme, do the following:

Profile > Account Settings > Look and layout > Current theme (first option - click on (change) ) > bottommost option (outline). Click on [use this theme]

7. Also, in an interest to keep everyone's avatars at the same width to avoid scrolling horizontally through posts on the forum, i would suggest people choose an avatar from this site:
http://cartoonavatars.blogspot.pt/search/label/Looney%20Tunes?updated-max=2010-05-14T13:07:00-07:00&max-results=20&start=3&by-date=false

Lots of stuff available there at the right size format.

I like the new avatar. I need to find one.  :( Is horizontal scrolling still a problem after adding the CSS changes?

Added a "Unread Posts" and "Recent Topics" buttons to the top menu bar. I am still looking into a "recent topics" button as I think that's easier to read, but for now these may be handy.

11. Check through the smf boards for ideas on what we can do with the forum.

My next priority, after adding content, is to add icons in front of each subforum so people cna quickly browse to it once they memorize the icon. Will give this place some eyecandy too. I was thinking of 80's icons like:

Mario for the gaming forum
He-man for the toy forum
a smurf for the comic forum
a gpk for the non-sports card forum (AB prob)
max headroom for the general discussion forum
madonna for the off topic forum

more coming when i think of it

Forum Progress

This thread will consist of many different topics relating to work being done on the forum. I'm working on condensing some older topics that have already been covered/taken care of and putting them together in one mega thread for later reference.

Feel free to add onto this thread with any enquiries or concerns, especially things like:

1. Broken Links
2. Dead topics that need to move to the graveyard
3. Wrong information
4. any other concerns

Also please add onto this thread with links or ideas to supplemental/alternative ideas that have or have not already been initiated here on this forum. We want to stay up to date with the most advanced technology and give you guys everything you deserve; nothing but the best.

Here are some examples of what's being discussed:

1. Thumbs Up / Upvote/Downvote add-ons (being looked into)
2. Member storage (I will give members free storage on my imgur gallery - to house their collection image files. The only thing i ask in return is, your cooperation so it doesn't break any imgur rules. Thanks
3. etc

Thanks guys. We need everyone to pitch in a little bit at start to keep things flowing correctly around here. I can personally keep things going for a long time because i love this project, but things will speed up a lot faster with helping hands. Any help is appreciated.

Sincerely, joe blow

Cool, thanks for the research and suggestions. I'll take a look at them. In the meantime, have you notices Rubik's cubes?  :(

14. Hehe awesome! looking around for some more custom stuff

smf is actually pretty close to vbulletin in terms of content. I have admin'd several of those in the past and they all had lots of extras. We could also look into building a storefront directly onto the site....  like little rubber guys have done.

I made some tweaks to the lightbox so now any image posted (from image host or attachments) will work with it and the next/prev buttons work with all the images on that page so you can view it like a gallery. I dub it "Galleria Mod"  :(

19. Fancy schmancy. Does it resize pics to a default size if they are small to start with? In other words, do smll thumbnail pics enlarge when you click on them?

20. ya badass! liking the galleria mod :(
