RetroDaze Third Annual Article Writing Contest

Our partners at Retro-daze have recently announced a contest that we felt important enough to share with you guys. As you know Retro-daze is all about the 80's, so what better chance to write something for the good of both sites. Killing 2 birds with one stone as they say. Plus you get a chance at winning something substantial (scroll down below)

It's a new year, and that means it's time for the Third Annual Article
Contest. Grind those gears and fire up those fingers... it's time to find out if vkimo and pikachulover can go three for three, or fall to new champions!

    • Articles should be at least 700 words in length.
    • Articles must focus on “retro” subject matter (which, for the purposes of this contest, can -pertain to anything relevant up to the year 1999.)
    • No game, movie, or other product reviews. Mention of such things and their impact on your life are permissible. Just not straight reviews.
    • Must be all new, original works that have not been previously submitted or published elsewhere.

The winning articles will be chosen by 2 guest judges. This year, Linz and Lee, from the retrotastic site, Pop Rewind, have agreed to perform that duty. Thanks Linz and Lee! Be sure to add Pop Rewind to your daily rotation of nostalgia sites!

Two (2) lucky winners will receive (via email) an Amazon Digital Gift Card valued at $125.

Entries must be submitted by 11:59 AM EST March 21st,
2015. Enter as many articles as you like. There is no limit.

    Good Luck!

Note: Me and dodger would like to throw something in the ring as well. Anyone who attempts to write an article for this contest (you don't have to win), will win a free 80's playground T-Shirt (dodger it's on me). Choice of color limited to pink (joking, any color choice). It must be constrained to the guidelines above however.

    Example Articles:

I really would like to do a review of a strange kids film done in the 80's. It's really obscure and no review exist (that I know of). Would that qualify?

We love reviews... but not for contests. -image- However, mention of a product, film, etc. and it's effects on your life are allowed as part of a larger theme. Just not straight reviews. Still, I would love to read something like that as part of a contest or not. ;)

And hey ILT80's... thanks for mentioning this. That's way cool of you.

  4. You're welcome, and thanks also for reciprocating ;)

@vaporman87, thanks for the explanation. I couldn't think of anything else to write. I'll be looking forward to reading the submissions, which might give us some ideas for next time. :(

  6. There were a lot of submissions this time around. Usually the Halloween and Christmas contests bring out more, but for some reason we really had a wave of articles come in. 16 were entered in total. Once they have all finally been published on the site, winners will be announced. In the meantime, here are the ones that have been published thus far...
