PLAYGROUND UGLIES #1: GNARLY NICK

Here is a sneak peak at the first installment of Playground Uglies, a monthly series by Chad Scheres. The overall monthly series will include 10 characters released in a poster and promo card format. The first character is a wicked take on our favorite GPK vampire, nasty NICK.

Note: If you want a Gnarly Nick or/and Greaser Greg GPK Poster as seen above, reply below. We are going to do this as a first come first serve basis and will most likely be producing to order this time around if enough orders come in.

Dont have time to contact you guys individually so i hope you take up the initiative so we can continue the series...

9. i'll have to pass for now, only because $$ is crazy short for the time being. i love the first one in the set from Chad, it's killer!!
i should be able to pick up a few more as we go on hopefully, i hope Chad keeps up the great work!!

10. I want both Nick and Greg to add to the collection. I will have money in a couple days. Can't wait to see who else gets uglified.

How would you feel if we decided to make all of tthe posters, jumbo cards instead?

Curious to see if this would excite more people here.

The jumbo cards would fit better into my collection than posters.  I don't have a place to permanently display the posters, so every time I want to enjoy them I have to unroll them etc.

I love the art on them, so the jumbo cards would be awesome for me!  Heck, regular cards would be sweet too!  :-)

13. Jumbo cards would be cool too. Are you talking like 5x7 cards? More people might show interest.
I love the Adam Zombie poster. Heck i even bought one of Chads sketch cards off ebay to support his art. Looking forward to see whats next(whether it be poster or jumbo cards).

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know that the last release coupled with all the other things coming out this year crunch the available funds in everyone's wallets a bit so we're trying to make this as economical as possible while still delivering Chad's great works in a way that

I think we'll need at least 10 people committing to the idea to keep it going so hopefully a few more people saved some money from this release who can commit to at least the first 3 posters or jumbo cards in the series. We're thinking of bundling them together to save you guys some money on shipping costs.

We're trying to make the jumbo cards the same size as the Topps ones for uniformity.

We definitely want to keep the bonus cards included in the lot so you can build on that set and we may have something special in store for people who buy the whole series throughout the year (we will actually still be on pace to deliver all 10 if we ship the first batch out  sometime next month)

If you guys don't mind i'd like to jott your names down to get a list going of people who are down for at least the Gnarly Nick Posters/Jumbo Cards as of now.

15. I'll check into the jumbo cards. I haven't done much with the posters because it seemed there wasn't any interest. If you want cards, than that's what I'll do! I'll work on a back for the Gnarly Nick card soon.

16. i think the jumbo's are a great idea. for me personally, the posters aren't the best fit for my collection and living space. neither are the jumbo's to a degree, lol, but i like them.

traditional card size is always my vote, but the jumbo's are good idea  -image-

I hear ya. We'll definitely keep the traditional cards included with every Jumbo card. What i like about the jumbo cards, that i didn't initially like when they were first introduced by Topps is, that you can display them against a wall to fill up the space behind the smaller cards. Just looks better aesthetically and it looks good from far away. Plus all the details really shine through on a jumbo card, especially when drawn in large format from the rough draft stages.

My input behind the scenes is to do the old-school 5"x7" jumbo size like the original OS size for jumbos. Personally, beyond that size it is more like a poster/wall art, which I think doesn't fit a lot of GPK collector's preferences. I think the current Comic-Con jumbo size was an unusual choice as a sort of series, I could understand for a one-off though. I think the main reason they sold was their limitlessness in nature, but as a collectible, not as practical.

Anyway, along with the jumbo, we could have a standard sized set. So the options would be standard size set, jumbo set, and a standard/jumbo bundle. Maybe the bundle would come with a #0 Adam Zombie jumbo as a perk for collectors that are really into the set. Just some ideas...

19. good call Slater, they make those nice binder pages to hold those OS ''giant'' size.
that may work even better.

i agree with the ''wall art'' comment as well

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, they have those pages so collectors can still store the 5"x7" set in their binders. Though a 10-card standard sized set is awkward since those pages store 9 cards.
