  1. 2 years ago

Hello Everyone, this is my first foray into forumdom and I would like to take a moment to explain myself.

I am a researcher, an information junkie capitalizing on the power of the Internet to learn and explore new things. i want to know as much about this decade as I possibly can

but i would also love to meet new people and make new friends and or penpals along the way.

a few fun facts about me,

-I play synthesizer and Bass guitar

-I am an Avid  music fan

    - I enjoy reading and watching movies, as well as playing Dungeons and Dragons

    - to be brutally honest i signed up because my therapist thought it would help with my social anxiety....

-I have cerebral palsy, which causes me to miss the little things sometimes. so please forgive any grammatic or syntax errors in my writing, i  truly do mean well. and look forward to having a blast here.

    All best. -0.0-

  5. The answers.

-I simply rummaged through Google until something peaked my interest. (also during this time I was reading Ernest Cline's Book, Ready Player One) and this seemed like a friendly and interesting place to be.

-My favorite part of the eighties, in my research so far i have found my favorite aspect to be the influx of new ideas and technology for the time. home video, cable,  walkman cassette players Video Games especially, we we're daring, we had money to burn and everyone wasn't afraid to be themselves. at least that's what I Like about the decade, it was a time of turmoil as well. but ultimately it was about change and relentless optimism about new ideas..  Oh and in case you haven't guessed. I like The Chipmunks (there's a big story behind that which i will tell to anyone who listens...

(side note) :I was unfortunately born physically in 1991, but i feel like an 80s kid in spirit

    - Thanks for The D&D love, I've been playing since as far back as i can remember. there's something about getting together with friends and weaving a story that's always appealed to me.

-And yes Butt shakes indeed help with social anxiety!

  6. Did some research on the Chipmunks and found this video. It also had a really good writeup about some of the history of this great act.

The first official vocal appearance of Alvin and the Chipmunks was their three-time Grammy award-winning single "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" in 1958. Driven by the success of this hit, Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. created The Alvin Show, The Chipmunks' first television series, in 1961 and the group's first solo album, The Alvin Show. After his death in 1972, his son, Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., relit the franchise in 1980 with the album Chipmunk Punk. Seeing an opportunity to continue his father's legacy, Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. and his wife, Janice Karman, launched the 80s Chipmunks with the TV series Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Chipmunks, and The Chipmunks Go to the Movies, lasting eight seasons total. They would also create The Chipettes in 1983 and release the first animated feature film, The Chipmunk Adventure, in 1987. In 2007, the franchise entered into a second revival which began with the release of the group's third platinum album, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, and the start of the CG Chipmunks. The CGI/live-action films Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeakquel, and Chipwrecked together opened the door for the creation of a new television series, ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks, and a fourth CGI/live-action film, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip, which are expected to premiere in March 2015 and December 2015 respectively.

  7. Yeah man, some of the episodes involving more serious subjects like death, and the search for their biological mother get me tearing up something crazy. i like the 80s/90s version a bit more due to the fact that the characters were more well rounded. and the inclusion of The chipettes as actual characters, not just there to be the "I'm A Girl Version of you" type.

    i'm rambling again....

  8. Rambling are what forums are all about! It's one of the few places in life no one has the chance to cut you off and interrupt your thoughts!  :-)

  9. Hey Simon. You couldn't have picked a nicer group of people to start out your adventure in the land of forums! These folks are very welcoming and fun. Good to have you around.
